You've come to the wrong place. This site features unique, hand made products that you won't find in department stores, big box stores, or on TV. Most are wood products from my workshop, but occasionally I will post a link to a really outstanding product that someone else has made. It is listed here because I bought it, use it, and like it...
You have to remove a lot of wood to convert a piece of cherry, walnut, or teak into a finished product. Until recently I have used only conventional woodworking tools to shape rifle and pistol grips. My new computer numerical control (CNC) machine has now automated much of the process. CNC makes labor intensive work, such as checkering and engraving, practical for the small workshop.
If you are thinking about adding CNC capability to your workshop check out Next Wave Automation. They have CNC machines from $1600 to $5000. If you are new to CNC I highly recommend that you get a copy of CNC Router Essentials and read it cover to cover before purchasing a CNC machine.
The Hungarian AMD65 rifle is one of the more unusual AK variants. It is equipped with a minimal side folding wire stock that offers no cheek rest, as shown in the following photo.
